There will not be a Sigma FP mark II
The End of the Sigma FP and Sigma FP L
When I wrote down my initial impressions about the Sigma BF launch, I expressed my desire that Sigma would follow up the BF with an FP mark ii. But those hopes were somewhat dashed today when I listened to the PetaPixel Podcast which featured Sigma’s CEO as a special guest.
Chris Niccolls specifically asked Sigma’s CEO about the future of the Sigma FP line and he gave a pretty clear indication that Sigma was shifting away from the Sigma FP or any other dedicated cinema style cameras in the immediate future. He mentioned that Sigma’s engineering resources were stretched thin.
He stopped short of saying the FP line was definitely ending, but his answer was clear enough to evaporate my hopes for a Sigma FP II. The fact seems to be confirmed by the fact that Sigma’s new line of cinema lenses will not be released for the L-Mount.

New Compact Lenses for the Sigma BF
In better news, Sigma’s CEO stated that they were planning to release new compact lenses to match the body of the Sigma BF. One of my biggest complaints about the BF is that the L-Mount lacks any true pancake lenses that match the shape and style of the BF body. I think the Sigma BF will be significantly more compelling with if it had a 28mm, 35mm, or 50mm lens that matched its lines and design.
