Panasonic Lumix ZS200 (TZ200) - The Most Versatile Camera in the World (2025) - Review
While the Panasonic Lumix ZS200 (TZ200) was never as popular as its competition, it holds its own in the compact camera space. It has features no other compact camera can match, like 360mm full-frame equivalent zoom and superb IBIS. If its unique features appeal to you, I whole-heartedly recommend it. If you’re looking for something a bit more conventional in the compact space, I would steer you towards the Canon g7x and Sony Rx100 series. If you’re looking for ultimate versatility, The Panasonic ZS200 is going to be hard to beat!
There will not be a Sigma FP mark II
When I wrote down my initial impressions about the Sigma BF launch, I expressed my desire that Sigma would follow up the BF with an FP mark ii. But those hopes were somewhat dashed today when I listened to the PetaPixel Podcast which featured Sigma’s CEO as a special guest.
Panasonic Lumix 45-150mm f4.0-5.6 - A Pleasant Surprise - Review
A few months ago I bought a Lumix G85 (see my review) from a local camera shop, and it came with this Panasonic Lumix 45-150mm silver lens. I didn’t really have any interest in the lens at first. I owned the Olympus 40-150mm plastic fantastic telephoto lens some time ago, but I never loved that lens. Its cheap plastic body didn’t match the build quality of any of my Olympus cameras.
Review: Sony a7 mark 1 (the original) - Small King
The Sony a7 is a legend when it comes to mirrorless cameras. It was Sony’s first entry into the mirrorless full-frame camera game, and it remains one of the smallest full frame cameras ever made with an EVF. I’ve owned every version of the original a7 series, and in this review I want to tell you why I feel this camera offers unmatched value even in 2025.
There is Nothing Special About Fujifilm Cameras… From Someone Who Owns 3
If you think a Fujifilm camera is going to make your photos magical or give you some kind of special feeling no other camera system can, you’re probably wrong. As someone who has owned 5 or 6 Fuji cameras and multiple lenses, I’m here to tell you there is nothing particularly special about the system. It offers very little that other manufacturers don’t. An X-pro3 or x100vi won’t make your photographs into a work of art.
Review: Panasonic Lumix G85 (G80) in 2025 - Absolute Value!
This review will document my experiences with the Panasonic Lumix G85 (G80) camera after a month of use. As I mentioned in my first article, I bought a used Lumix G85 for $180. The $180 price tag included the camera and an old chrome Panasonic Lumix 45-150 f/4-5.6. Lets find out if the Lumix G85 is one of the best cameras you can buy between $200-300.
Tbilisi on my Mind - Fujifilm Film Simulation
Tbilisi on my Mind is a new Film Simulation Recipe for Fujifilm cameras. It was made using a Fujifilm X-H2, but older cameras can also be used. It utilizes Fujifilm’s Classic Chrome recipe, but shifts the white balance towards the reds. It has medium contrast, sharpness, and clarity. This would be a great recipe for the new Fujifilm X100vi.
Fuji Warm Spring - Fujifilm Film Recipe
Fuji Warm Spring is a film simulation I created for Fujifilm cameras. I began with Classic Negative. Fujifilm describes Classic Negative as having “enhanced color with hard tonality to increase image depth.” Wanting to customize the recipe further, I adjusted the white balance to Daylight and shifted the red and blue balance (+4 Red and -4 Blue).
Why Photography Reviewers Should Refuse to Work with Camera Brands
On my website, I only review cameras that I own, which is the exception in the “review” space. I want to tell you why that is so important, and discuss 3 reasons why creators should reconsider working with camera brands.
My First Day with the Panasonic Lumix G85 (G80) in 2025
I share a few initial impressions, photo samples, and video clips from my first half-day of shooting with the Panasonic Lumix G85, or G80 as it is called in some markets. This camera seems like a great budget option for those needing a hybrid camera, even in 2025.
Skip the Sigma BF and Buy the Sigma FP or FP L
I see very few reasons to buy the Sigma BF over the Sigma FP or FP L. The most compelling reason for most will be the aluminum design, but I suspect many photographers will come to resent the poor ergonomics and the cold metal body. Don’t worry, the Sigma FP will still be there for you when you’re ready to make the trade.
You Have $500 in 2025 - Best Pro Camera to Buy - Full-frame, APSC, and Micro Four Thirds
It’s 2025 and you’ve got $500 and you want to buy your first camera. You want something professional, not some cheap piece of plastic. What should you buy and where should you buy? In this article, I want to discuss how to find the best camera body for under $500.
Fujifilm X-H2 - Best Hybrid Camera? - Long Term Review in 2025
I’ve been using the Fujifilm X-H2 for 3 months as a professional videographer and photographer. Before buying the X-H2, I sold all my other cameras with the intent of using the X-H2 as my only camera. How has the X-H2 performed? Can it be a professionals only camera? What are the pros and cons? This review discusses my experience and observations after using the camera every day for the past 3 months.
My Thoughts on the Sigma BF as a Sigma FP Owner - 5 Pros and 5 Cons
The Sigma BF is a minimalist and modern take on the original FP. The original FP was geared towards videographers, but the new BF appears to be targeted at stills photographers. As a stills photographer and a lover of unique cameras, I love the concept. In this article, I want to discuss 5 things I like and 5 things that concern me about the camera as a long time Sigma FP owner.
Red Classic Chrome - Film Simulation for Fujifilm Cameras
Lately, I’ve been curious about the effect of changing just one variable of a previous Fujifilm recipe to see the new results. This recipe is a white balance modified version of my last film simulation, Classic Chrome V2. This recipe shifts things away from the greens and towards the reds and purples. Using my Fujifilm X-H2, I hit the streets of Vlore, Albania for my test photos.
Citizen Fugu Promaster 3-Month Review - NY0158-09L
Having the Citizen Fugu Promaster Automatic on my left wrist for the last 3 months has been a very enjoyable experience. It has been a great introduction to the world of automatic watches. The watch feel very high quality, it looks great, and it has shown impressive resistance to sustaining damage.
Classic Chrome v2 - Film Simulation for Fujifilm Cameras
It’s hard to beat a classic, but everyone appreciates a good remix… That was my thought process when I set out to modify Fujifilm’s Classic Chrome profile on my Fujifilm X-H2. Like most people, I enjoy the original Classic Chrome, but variety is the spice of life. As 2024 drew to a close, I set out to make a film simulation that would give me new enthusiasm for photographing with this old favorite.
Pro Negative 400 - Film Recipe for Fujifilm Cameras
I just bought a Fujifilm X-H2 and I’ve been trying to create a film simulation that I can use as a “standard” profile. It needs to look good in all lighting conditions and be relatively flexible. Today’s recipe is my first attempt at such a recipe. Pro Negative 400 will give you unique colors suitable for every day memory making and reduce your need to edit in post.
Kodak Gold Mist 200 - Film Simulation for Fujifilm Cameras
I hope you enjoy this new Fujifilm Film Simulation recipe I’ve created called Kodak Gold Mist 200. It’s based on the Reala Ace Film Simulation, which some have criticized for a lack of originality, but I find perfectly suited as a foundation layer for film recipes.
Classic Gold Negative - Film Simulation for Fujifilm Cameras
The Fujifilm recipe I’ve created for you today is called Classic Gold Negative. It’s built on the Classic Negative film simulation. The recipe is free. I made it with the Fujifilm X-H2 and Sigma X-Mount lenses.
